1. Key Light
The most important light, the anchor light, the light on which the exposure is based.

2. Fill Light
The light used to "fill in" shadows, or reduce the lighting ratio, by definition no brighter than the key.

3. Backlight
A light that illuminates the subject from roughly the opposite side of the subject from the camera. Sometimes referred to as a hair light.
